Salariin Kampuchea Life Skills Students visit the Pacific Hotel

Enthusiastic Life Skills Students visited the Pacific Hotel in Siem Reap to get a better idea of how a hotel operates in a busy tourist centre. With the boom of tourism in the town there are good opportunities for young adults in HOPE supported projects for those students wanting to work in the hotel industry.

Here’s a short report written by Naro the Educational Manager at Salariin Kampuchea outlining the outing.

Life Skills Classes

Siem Reap II

15th June 2013

Visited Workplace: Pacific Hotel

Short Report:

First of all, I would like to express my deep appreciation and thanks to Ms.Sokha Rath, Mr.Chhum Lim, Mr.Diluc and Ms.Sopheap for giving their valuable time on the 15th of June 2013 to allow, meet and share general knowledge with our students from Life Skills Project from Salariin Kampuchea Organization. The visit was a wonderful learning experience for our students due to the efforts of these people. It was also great to learn more about the work of Pacific Hotel.

Moreover, Mr.Diluc, who is a front office manager, had shared his previous job experiences with our Life Skills students. This encouraged and motivated our students to understand the trustworthiness of educated people. It was a great explanation of how they could start from a simple job to a higher position.

Mr.Diluc appreciated the questions from our Life Skills students and talked about the need for workers in the hotel industry. It is obvious that he is concerned about the workforce development issues we discussed during the visit. Salariin Kampuchea provides technical education and is working with the hotel industry to recruit and train young people in the skills needed for the workforce of tomorrow.

Salariin Kampuchea certainly hopes to foster a closer relationship between SK and Pacific Hotel that can result in benefits for both sides. We hope Pacific Hotel will consider involvement in our projects, and they can inform us on job advertisements to our youths about job requirements and expectations.

The Pacific Hotel team made our Life skills students feel that with an education behind them, free job markets are in front of them. Furthermore, we will not forget their warmest hospitality and readiness to share with all types of information that our students had asked during the visit.

Also, the activities for the Life Skills are running smoothly because of the HOPE organization. HOPE continues to support Salariin Kampuchea youths as they continue in their education and training towards a bright future.

Finally, thank you very much for your kindness and generous help to share with Salariin Kampuchea youths.
