Silk Lab Stall at The Talking Shop, Sandford-On-Thames

On the last two Saturdays before Christmas Jo and Thomas set up a stall at the Talking Shop in Sandford-On-Thames raising more money for HOPE. Each week local producers sell their wares at the Sanford Village Hall.

We joined the Christmas festivities and managed to raise over £200 from people wanting to buy last minutes presents for their families.

With similar values to our own, the Talking Shop is a local group of volunteers working to provide opportunities for the local community to get together and to bring valuable resources back to the village.

In October they won Best Community Project in the 2013 OCVA awards.

The Saturday Market & Cafe was started as a fundraiser and as an opportunity to investigate the market, to work with and to build up a team of volunteers and to learn about running a shop of sorts. It has been invaluable in building a picture of what shape the shop and community resource should take.

The market is open every Saturday from 9am to midday, in the Village Hall, Henley Road, Sandford-on-Thames, OX4 4YN.

Everyone is welcome at the market. There are often activities for children but every week they have toy cars outside on the patio (thanks to Sandford’s fantastic Toddler Group) and lego and drawing stuff for children to use inside.
