Raising funds and HOPE’s profile in Sunny Oxfordshire

The Talking Shop in Sandford-On-Thames, Oxfordshire, is a great place for raising funds and networking! Planning our time to coincide with gift buying for next week’s Mothering Sunday we set up a Silk Lab stall in the heart of the community.

This is the third time HOPE have run a stall at the Talking Shop and the products seem to be very popular. The locals are starting to ask for various products too, namely scarves. Slightly ironic, seeing as every other market stall at Angkor Market, Old Market and the Night Markets sell scarves which we don’t have!

The opportunity to raise funds for HOPE, by selling the silk products, is the main aim to be at the Talking Shop but the networking is almost just as important and you do meet some interesting people.

This week the local vicar asked us to write a small piece in the next edition of the Parish news, a couple reminisced fondly of their memories cycling from Bangkok, through Cambodia to Vietnam and one lady talked passionately about her voluntary work on the borders of Cambodia and Thailand when she was a younger woman.

All in all it was a good morning and we look forward to the next opportunity.
