The Hope It Floats team took to the waters once again and raised an amazing £902.00.
This year we went an extra mile and ran a sucessful cake stall and tombolla which was manned by motivated volunteers including Sophal, who before arriving in the UK worked at the Women’s Resource Center in Siem Reap. Not only did this give Sophal the chance to talk passionately about her home country she loved the opportunity to be able to help raise funds for the people in need.
We also had a team of yummy mummies who baked cakes and cooked jams and chutneys to sell on the stall and many generous gifts donated to win on the tombolla including a huge soft cow toy and a Guitar Hero!
On top of that, we had a full boat of enthusiastic paddlers, enough to take turns and allow racers to rest up between challenges. Finishing 17th out of 52 was pretty outstanding, especially when we were up against experienced and fitter racers.
Despite not making the final everyone had a great day and we raised lots of money, which at the end of the day is what it was all about!
Thank you thank you thank you to all of you that helped out, came along and showed your support, paddled in the boat, donated and helped carry everything back to the car in the pouring rain (you know who you are 😉 )
We’re looking forward to doing it all over again, so if you are up for a challenge in 2017 and want to join the Hope It Floats IV team get in touch.
