YAPs 30KM cycle challenge Angkor Wat on the 5th of December 2009

In December whilst many of you will be facing the thought of a few Saturdays left for Xmas shopping, those of us in Cambodia will be contemplating another cycle challenge! The Angkor Bike Ride will be held on Saturday 5th December. This is a spectatular back drop for an awesome cycle ride.

During a recent visit to Cambodia HOPE trustee’s presented to the young adults at Sangkheum Center for Children and enthused by their fundraising efforts the young adults also wanted to do something, not only to take on a challenge, but to help raise funds for themselves and the next generation of young adults. This has now become an exciting challenge for a team of young adults to train for the 30 KM cycle ride around their national symbol Angkor Wat and the further ruins in the Angkor archeological site. This bike ride has been made possible with the help from a generous donation of bikes given to the young adults by the Hotel de La Paix who ran a joint campaign with mastercard and their kind guests.

Training has started!! Every Sunday morning at Soria Moria Hotel, Siem Reap the YAPs and Educators meet for preparation and training for the race.

If you would like to support the young adults in their challenge then please do so by donating through JustGiving. CLICK HERE and follow the next easy steps.

Here are a few pictures of their first training session.
