H.O.P.E, so impressed with This Life Cambodia’s (TLC) commitment and hard work to date, were keen to support more of TLC ‘s project work but were concious they should follow their own charitable objectives in supporting youth. Following this thread they were interested in learning more of TLC’s ‘This Life Behind Bars program’ and the more they learnt the more they were compelled to help.
More specifically their support leaned towards supporting the vocational training in prisons.
” This Life Cambodia is providing children in prison with skills based training in Motor Mechanics and Electronic Repairs. The education program also includes life skills and personal development, as well as one on one support in a holistic approach to education addressing the stressful prison environment as an education setting. “
The results speak for themselves and more information can be found here www.thislifecambodia.org
Unfortunately news of young juveniles caught up in the justice system is only too common in Cambodia and back in May 2014 we reported just that. Click here to read blog post.
On a positive note these reports only fuel TLC’s motivation to continue their work in great strides – on the 3rd Sept 2014, This Life Cambodia signed an MoU with the Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey Prisons under the honour of H.E. Kuy Bunsorn, the Director General of the General Department of Prison. This MoU means to allow TLC to work officially and collaboratively to promote and address the right of the children who come to conflict with the law.
H.O.P.E continue their funding to the programme and look forward to updating you on their progress in future blog posts.
